Quick start

New pilot? Follow these steps before your first launch.

  1. 1

    Complete the in-game tutorial

Launch from Earth, repair the starter ship, and learn radar, packages, and Fly Mode before recycling your first hull.

  2. 2

    Build a flightworthy hull

Follow our Build Your First Ship guide to wire power, atmospheric thrusters, and a 3D joystick.

  3. 3

    Configure RCS for rotation

Mount six RCS thrusters and connect them to an RCS controller so you can pitch, yaw, and roll in space.

  4. 4

    Practice hover and wiring

Optional but powerful: add a hover logic circuit and review power routing before long trips.

  5. 5

    Tackle your first moon mission

When ready, use the Moon Landing Guide to deliver cargo to Moonstep and unlock advanced thrusters.

  6. 6

    Chase achievements and patches

Track the Steam Achievements list and apply Patch Notes QoL after each 1.0.x update (currently through **1.0.010**).

  7. 7

    Survey every planet before committing

Cross-reference the All Planets index and the Planets Map so you know gravity, atmosphere, and unlock chain before you bolt on the same thrusters.

  8. 8

Go solar, save often, build smart

Free cruise power with the Solar Panels guide, back up your ships through the Save Files walkthrough, and skim the Best Builds tier list before long trips.

  9. 9

    Submarine and Steam Deck readiness

Before chasing *Houston, We Have A Submarine* read the Submarine Build guide; handheld pilots should bookmark the Steam Deck Playable Guide.

  10. 10

Read the Launch Guide for pricing, the 20% discount through ~August 16, and blueprint habits.

  11. 11

    Check PC specs before co-op

Review System Requirements to confirm your rig handles physics, wiring, and four-player sessions smoothly.

FAQ

Wiki FAQ

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Is this an official Approximately Up wiki?

No. approximatelyup.wiki is a fan-made resource. Always confirm patch notes and prices on the Steam store page or the developer Discord.

Has the full game released?

Which languages does the game support?

Which languages does this wiki support?

The wiki is published in English, French, German, and Spanish. Switch languages with the header menu—each locale includes fully translated guides and hub pages.

Why does my ship not respond to controls?

Nine times out of ten it is a wiring issue. Read Power and Data Routing and verify batteries feed your RCS controller and thrusters. Also check Fuse Box fixes in Patch Notes.

How hard is the moon mission?

Landing on the moon catches many first-time builders. The moon has a thin atmosphere, so you need both atmospheric and electric thrusters. Our Moon Landing Guide walks through a proven approach.

Is Approximately Up single-player or co-op?

Both. You can play solo or with up to four players online. The Co-op Multiplayer Guide covers roles and communication tips.

Are there redeem codes?
